The main components of pine oil are α-pinene, β-pinene, limonene, and borneol. These give the oil antiseptic, expectorant, and anti-inflammatory properties. For this reason, this oil is often used for inhalation, especially for upper respiratory tract infections, sinus problems, and coughs. When applied topically, it regulates sebum secretion and has antibacterial properties.
Pine oil is often used in conjunction with other essential oils such as eucalyptus , lavender and lemon .
Due to its potent properties, pine oil should be used in appropriate dilution. It can be added to diffusers, massage oils, bath oils, and cosmetics with a refreshing and cleansing effect.
