Characteristics and composition
Mango butter has a delicate, creamy consistency and a natural shade ranging from white to light yellow. The product is fragrance-free, making it an excellent base for cosmetics enriched with essential oils or other additives. It remains semi-solid at room temperature, but melts quickly upon contact with skin, ensuring easy spreading and a velvety finish.
Chemical analysis of mango butter:
- Stearic acid: 43% – has softening and protective properties, strengthens the skin’s lipid barrier.
- Oleic acid: 42.6% – responsible for intense hydration and regeneration.
- Palmitic acid: 6.2% – supports skin elasticity and nourishment.
- Linoleic acid: 3.2% – has anti-inflammatory properties and supports regeneration.
- Arachidonic acid: 4% – strengthens the skin’s natural protective barrier.
Mango butter is characterized by excellent oxidative stability, ensuring a long shelf life. Its melting point is approximately 30-40°C, making it ideal for spreading on skin and hair.
Care properties
Mango butter is rich in unsaturated fatty acids and vitamins A, C and E, which are responsible for its strong antioxidant and regenerative properties:
- Moisturizes and regenerates dry and damaged skin, supports its reconstruction and strengthens the lipid barrier.
- Protects against UV radiation
- Delays the aging process , such as wrinkles and loss of skin elasticity.
- It soothes sensitive, atopic and irritated skin, helps heal wounds, soothe sunburns and regenerate the epidermis.
- It nourishes dry and damaged hair, increases its shine and elasticity, and makes combing easier.
Uses of mango butter
Mango butter can be used on its own or as an ingredient in cosmetics:
- for skin care, as a moisturizing cream, lip balm, regenerating ointment for cracked hands and heels, or a nourishing body mask,
- for hair, as a regenerating mask or an addition to conditioners, perfect for oiling hair,
- as a base for the production of balms, creams, soaps, lipsticks and bath bombs,
- for bathing.
