Camelina oil is a clear, transparent, oily liquid with a small amount of sediment at the bottom. Its color ranges from golden to reddish-brown. The color of the oil depends on the spring or winter variety of camelina used.
Composition and properties of camelina oil
Camelina oil, thanks to its high vitamin E content, is a powerful antioxidant. It strengthens the immune system and reduces the risk of heart disease. It protects against diseases associated with cognitive impairment, such as Alzheimer’s disease, as well as eye diseases and nerve damage caused by inflammation. Its other benefits include liver support, lowering cholesterol, regulating blood sugar, and increasing concentration.
Fatty acid content
The content of saturated acids in the oil is low and amounts to 10-11%, while the content of unsaturated acids is around 90%, including: monounsaturated (monoenic) acids – about 36%, and polyunsaturated (polyenic) acids – about 55%.
